Perhaps the strangest party yet. Join in with the kitties and dogs and birds on Twitter and have fun and raise money for a animal shelter in the UK. Weird but good. Very good.

That’s what I told my cat when she woke me up just now. She brought a dead mouse to bed with her. I even said it calmly. I got up calmly and calmly got dressed. Nice kitty got down off the bed while I dressed.  I calmly picked up mouse with cat-spit matted fur in a blankie and removed it from the house. 

Poor kitty got back up on the bed and looked so pitifully confused then. She couldn’t find her mouse any more. I gave her some yummy treats to make up for it.

For some reason I’m now wide awake.

I’m a cat blogger, among other things. And yet another friend’s cat has to go to the Rainbow Bridge tomorrow. It’s gotten too danged sad to go visit the CB site. It feels like we’ve lost a cat friend every day for so long. 

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Funny, I’ve crossed the Rainbow Bridge… into Canada… and into the unknown… and come back from both. Little Meep won’t be seen on this side again, though. As far as I know, anyway.

Sometimes it’s just too much it seems, to share this grief. But there’s still something to be said for having so many to care about and so many who care about you.

This is my kitty Gree getting some scritches on my lap. I haven’t been able to hold her on my lap very much at all because of my bunged up knee. I miss it. I love when I can hold her for a little while.

… want to help some cats?

DKM over at Diva Kitty and the Fluffies crochets a hundred or more snuggles (blankies for cats or buns or small dogs) a year to make money for charity for cats in need and bunnies.  (The Fluffies are two awesome bunnies.) The Snuggles she makes are donated to shelters for kitties or buns, used to earn money for cats in need, and the like.  In the midst of dealing with her Grandmother’s illness, she’s running out of yarn to make more snuggles for charity. That leaves idle hands which makes for more worry, and less snuggles for charity.  So if you can pull out some bux and get a snuggle, you’ll be helping her get yarn for 3 more snuggles for charity.  So go get one if you can, or just go cheer her on if the bux is just too tight.  And heck, her blog is fun too, so visiting just for kix is good.
