What happens if you add this to the bipolar meds?
Posted by Immi in 2 alarm fire day, bipolar, medsWell, I guess we’ll see. When the new nurse called my name at the doctor’s office today, I stood up and immediately fell into another of those hacking up a lung fits that makes me see stars and pee in my pants. She told me to take my time, then smiled kindly and said, “I think I can guess why you’re here today.” Oh yup. Definitmintly. I’d rather see what the new drugs do than those stars that make me afraid I’m going to lose a retina or two.
It might be all fine and no weirdness, though. But being bipolar and already taking a bunch of stuff, I’m not so confident about that. The prednisone made me hallucinate pretty badly. The levaquin gave me diarrhea and a yeast infection. No prednisone or levaquin this time, though. Just a few other things. Azithromycin any bronchitis germies that the levaquin didn’t quite kill off. Symbicort for the wheezing that came to visit with the bronchitis. And hydrocodone sans syrup so I can stop seeing retina-wiggling stars. The antihistimine in the Tussionex (hydrocodone and chlor-somethingorother anithistimine) they originally gave me made me really hyper, and that’s a no no in bipolarland if you can help it. I often have paradoxical reactions to antihistimines. Benadryl keeps me wide-eyed for days. Claritin knocks me out for hours. I might see other stars with the hydrocodone, but not those particular ones, and luckily it doesn’t make me sleepy or wired or anything much other than not coughing and not in pain. Hallefrickinlujah. I’m hoping for no particular weirdness.
I don’t know if I’ll get my wish though. While none of these things really clash badly with my bipolar meds, there’s always a chance something oddball will happen. Especially with me, it seems. I tend to have them there idiosyncratic reactions to meds. So… we’ll see. lol
You know, I’m right sick of worrying about meds and coughs and such.

PJ, don’t I though? Cross your fingers for me. And of course I’ll let you know. I always babble about it. hehe
Good luck with it! Hope it’s effective!

Prednisone made me feel weak and shaky. Benadryl makes me irritable as hell. Claritin just dries up every mucus secretion to the point where it feels like a desert in my nose and mouth. Most medications make me feel straight up awful, personally.

BL – Thanks! I’ll take all the good wishes I can get.
Lily – Yuk, that sounds nasty. I hope you don’t have to take many of them, since they make you feel so rotten.
I hope this mixture of meds brings relief from the bronchitis and also doesn’t interfere with your other meds. I’ve often had those “seeing stars and peeing the pants” experiences. They’re not much fun. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

With all those reactions no wonder you are concerned. Hope it all goes well. I have a love/hate relationship with prednisone. I hope never to take levaquin again. I got a systemic yeast infection from that. Still trying to get my digestion straight. Usually though I am fairly lucky with meds.

ohh you poor thing and i dont like coughing so hard i pee my pants either
Laura, thanks for the good wishes. I can do without those things for sure!
Tamara, oh yes on the love/hate relationship with prednisone. Works great but whaps ya around along the way. That systemic yeast infection thing sounds truly nasty! It’s bad enough to deal with the regular sort. I can’t imagine having one infest my whole body. YUK! I hope you get straight with it all soon yourself!
